Brown and Blue Design Team Post!

Well my bloggy friends, for my latest DT post I decided to step out side my box.  The theme was to create something using brown and blue.  I choose an altered item for my project.  I have a lot of pictures to go with this prject, so bare with me!!  This is also my first crack at something other then a layout or card.  I took a "wally world" juice container and spruced it up a bit to make this super cute pen holder.

I used a lot of different elements to create this project.   First off,  the paper is by Collage Press-The Jackson Lodge collection.  I used my ITOP by Imaginisce for the fabric brad centers of the flowers.  The flowers were made with the new Cricut cartridge Flower shoppe! I love it! So many great designs!!  I also threw in some ribbon and twine for the trim.

To create the top I used my super cool (or should I day HOT!!) IROCK!
I used my stencils and the corresponding bling to make the spiral pattern.
So here is a view from the top of the finished project!  I hope you enjoyed it!!

Please stop by JME Creations to see all the fabulous projects the DT has created!

4 Days and 3 Nights of Crafting Goodness!!

Thursday night marks the beginning of our semi-annual scrapbook weekend.  This year a few of us girls added an extra night! I could be over reacting but I feel like this week has been pretty rough.  Mainly due to the fact that I hit my head and gave myself a concussion.  I amaze myself sometimes.  I pretty much need a break from my everyday reality so I can dive into my crafting reality.  What better place then I lodge in the middle of no where, with an indoor pool, hot tub and all the wilderness in the world.  (not sure that last sentence made sense, but I am gonna go with it!)  I am super excited and I can't wait to show all the fun things I create! I hope you all fun and crafty weekends!

Tips for Tuesday!

Homemade Glue Dots

Did you know that you can make your own glue dots?  I am sure there are a lot of you out there knew this already but of those who don't, this is how you do it!
Here is a list of things you will need.  The list isn't long which is AWESOME!

#1- Parchment paper
This can be found at your local grocery store or Michael's

#2- Aleene's Tack-it Over & Over
I have only been able to find this at Michael's.
I believe the bottle is about $5.00 but you can always use a coupon!

This is such a easy project!  All you do is cut out your parchment paper.  You can make it into any size or shape you want.  Make sure you cut a shape that is easy for you to store.
Once you have your cut, fold your paper in half.
You need one half for the glue to be placed on and one half to place over your glue dots once they dry.
(Like a sandwich if you will)

Your next step would be to make your dots!  This is the best part!
You can make any shape or size you want!
No more buying mutiable boxes of glue dots at the store because you can make them all!

I like to make a bunch of different dots!
I make some that are about the size of a .50 cent piece for making paper and ribbon flowers.
I also make long skinny stripes for ribbon.

I usually let me glue dry overnight.  But it could take less time.
A "general" rule is once the glue turns from white to clear it is dry or close to.

I am sure you can try this recipe with other types of tacky glue that you might have lying around.
This is the only glue I have tried.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Enjoy your crafty time!!

Stepping in for Her Craftiness!

Our dear friend Lynne of Her Craftiness is out of commission and has left it up to her friends to take care of her blog.  Kari and Sue, you are doing a great job!  Today is my day to fill in as a guest designer.  Here is my "all about fall" project.

The paper was designed by Nancie Rowe-Janitz @ Fancy Pants Designs.  It is from the ALL FALL collection.  I saw this paper at the scrapbook expo this summer and had to have it!  Lucky for me it was 50% off!

For the flowers I used my new Sizzix die.  I had some cute paper in my scrap bin so I used that along with the felt.  For the centers I used my new favorite tool the ITop from Imaginisce.  I also added some bling just for fun!  And don't forget the twine on the left! I
love twine!! I think it is a great accent to any page!

That is all for today!  I hope you enjoyed my layout.  Lynne, we are all praying for a fast recovery!  Have a crafty day!!

Tips for Tuesday! Guest Tipper!!

This week I have a very special guest tipper!  Please welcome Sue from susanascorner. Sue is a friend and fellow designer for JME Creations. I am honored that she is here to give us all some tips for Tuesday. So give it up for Sue!!  Please stop her blog and show her some love!

Greeting to all my crafty peeps!

I come to you on this Terrific Tuesday as the Guest Designer Shannon's blog. She is so amazing and we serve on the same design team for JME Creations. On Tuesdays, Shannon likes to share techniques. Well my one turned into 2. I decided that I was going to show a bit about heat embossing and how it makes it easy for coloring. I was one of those kids that would color a picture and then outline the whole thing with black crayon. Now that I am grown and into stamping, I tried this technique and loved it. Here is my warning though: Do not attempt to do this with a stamp with teeny tiny areas. Let me show you the supplies that I used:
Here is my embossing gun from a chain store-USE a coupon!
Hero Art stamp, $1 stamp from M's, Versamark, black embossing powder and Stampin' Up embossing buddy
Now I promise you that this is very easy to do but you cannot get too crazy about it. When I heat emboss I like some stray embossing powder to get a speckled look. I used the embossing buddy to remove extra static from the paper I am stamping on and the paper that will catch the extra embossing powder. Lay out a piece of scrap paper under the paper you will be stamping the image on. All you do is use the Versamark like an ink pad. Put the Versamark on the stamp and press on paper; it will leave a shiny impression. Take your embossing powder and liberally add  on top of the Versamarked image. I then tap off the excess onto the scrap paper and blow some of the excess off around the embossed image. You then take the embossing gun and heat the powder until it is shiny. WARNING: That embossing gun air is pretty hot and can burn you. If you are working with a small piece of paper or chipboard cutout, use a tweezer. Here is what you will get:

Now do you see how the outline of the bird is raised? Well, when you color it is a great guideline and the color will not bleed beyond the embossed area. Here is my little birdie colored:
Now do you remember that I told you there was a second technique? Well when I began to put this card together it was really late and I wanted something special using ribbon. I must admit that I am bow challenged. Well, I had an epiphany. I took my craft knife (think Exacto) and made two slits beside the paper on the card base. I was able to thread the ribbon through and tie a bow without my hair falling out! Here is what the finished product looks like:
I hope that you have enjoyed my tips and encourage you to try heat embossing.  Until next time.....

Giveaway @ The Buzy Bug

Check it out! Giveaway @ The Buzy Bug!
Make sure you stop by and say hi!!

Welcome Fall

Welcome fall and welcome blog buddies! This is my second post for JME Creations design team.  This project was welcome fall.  I love fall! It is my favorite season!  I have always loved the colors, smells, leaves, storms, football! I could go on and on!  But.....I won't!  Here's my card!!

While digging through my paper I found some old school Bo Bunny.  I love me some Bo Bunny!!  This paper was all ready to go. I just had to add my embellishments.  I used my Serenade Cricut cart to make my little birdy.  I had lacey looking Recollections ribbon that I got on clearance from Michael's.  I didn't know what I was going to use it for but it sure came in handy for this card.  The last little bit I used my CTMH playful flourish stamp set and some stickles.

This card was pretty much made it's self. Super simple but I loved the end result.  I don't really feel like it is cheating too much because these days a lot of paper is super cute and ready to go.  Sometimes the paper is it's own embellishment.

I hope that you enjoyed my card as much as I did! Happy crafting!  Don't forget to stop by Jamie's blog to check out all the wonderful projects the designers came up with!

Saturday Shoppin', Scrappin' and True Blood Marathon!

I had an awesome day with my scrap buddies Alisha and Kacee! The day started early in the AM with a little bit of shopping.  I swear Michael's had almost everything at 50% off! Here are some of the spoils from the day!  Joann's didn't have to much going on.  Luckily I took some pictures of Michael's sale signs with my Iphone to get the savings there too! I love that Joann's will honor both Michael's coupons and theirs in the same transaction! (Michael's usually will only do one coupon per transaction)  It makes me happy!  As you can see we got more then enough good stuff to contribute to are day of crafting!

Once again we moved the dinning room table into the living room and watched the last half of season 4 of True Blood!  I worked on several projects today.  Some were for the DT I am on, and others were just for fun.  All to be posted at a later date.   The three of also had our laptops so of course we did a few hops through out the day.  I can't believe how many there were today! My goodness,  I couldn't keep up!  Now that the day is coming to an end I have one more hop then it's off to bed! Thanks girls for such an amazingly fun day!!

Yes, Alisha and I are wearing matching hoodies!

Tips for Tuesday!

Trust your gut!

How many times have you "finished" a project and thought  "should I add just one more thing?"
How many times have you added that "one more thing" and it totally ruined your page?
I can't tell you how many pages I have ruined by adding just a little too much.  LOL! It makes me so mad!

All I can say is trust your gut. Go with your first instinct.  If you still have doubts and you are still torn, ask a friend. That's what we're here for!  Scrappy advice is the best advice!
Sometimes less is more, and sometimes it's not!

Don't scrap your page because you over scrapped your page!
(Did you get the word play?) 8)

That's all for today's tip.

Vamptastic Project!

Hello my bloggy friends! At the end of this month I am attending my semi annual weekend crop. Twice a year about 10 of us girls get together for scrappin', swimmin' and maybe a drink or two!  This time and the last I was chosen to make door tags for our rooms and name plates for our tables.  Since this crop is close(ish) to Halloween I went with a super cute vampire theme.  I recruited my scrap buddy Alisha to help out and this is what we came up with!

To make the vampire and coffin,  I used the Happy Hauntings Cricut Cart!  Love it! Such a cute cart!!  I think after today it has become one of my faves!  I used a Martha Stewart punch to make the blood, and threw in some stickles to spice it up.  I had the skull and crossbones stickers laying around from another project so I thought, why not?!  I love the finished product!

To make the treat holders, Alisha used the new Close To My Heart Cricut Cart, Art Philosophy. This cart is amazing!  If you use CTMH you should check it out. Even if you don't check it out. You won't be disappointed!  This shape was titled "Fry Box".  The name plates were done with aSizzix die and attached by bat brads. LOVE IT!!

This was such a fun project! I hope you enjoyed it! Happy Sunday! Have a crafty day!

PS
I linked this post up with Getting Cricky for her Simply Sunday Challenge! Check it out, there are some pretty cool projects!

Tips for Tuesday!

This post is dedicated to a very special friend of mine!
If you are reading this, you know who you are!

Don't wait until the last minute!

Whether you are going to an all day corp or a weekend retreat, don't wait until the last minute to prepare!
Here are some tips that help me get on my way.

1.  Know what you are going to work on.
I like to have my pictures, paper and embellishments picked out and together. Organization is key!

2.  Pack ahead to time
Don't wait until the night before or the morning of. You don't want to rush and forget something.

3.  Talk to your friends to see what they are bringing
I like to talk to my cropping buddy Alisha to see what she is bringing.  The goal is the make the transporting of your stuff as painless as possible.  To make this happen we discuss what supplies we need and we split up the load. For example we both stamp.  It really isn't necessary for both of us to bring all our stamps and ink.  We split the load and share. It makes life a lot easier.

If you have any tips to make life easier let me know! I would love to hear what you have to say!

My very first design team post for JME Creations!!

First I would like to say thank you to Jamie of JME Creations for allowing me to be a part of her crafty, talented design team!  Jamie sent us a schedule with 3 projects for the month of September.  I have been so excited that I already finished my first two projects!  The fun thing about being apart of Jamie's team is that it is making me step outside my box.  I have really been enjoying trying new things.  So here is my first DT project ever! The theme was apple.

For me this project was killing two birds with one stone. (I never really understood that)  It made me smile because I already had my cute little "Peachy" apple cut out for a Peachy Keen challenge. So when Jamie said apple, I said sweet!

I also have a very dear friend who just went back to school after about 11 years of life and all it's craziness. I thought I would surprise her with this card.  I can't imagine going back to school at this stage in my life.  I hope she does well.

I hope that you enjoyed my little apple card and that you will stay tuned for more DT projects to come!  Again a special thanks to Jamie for making this all possible! Check out her blog  to see all the wonderful apple projects that the design team has put together.  You won't be disappointed! Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty day!!
